When Heliopolis Met A Tea Sage
On December 6th, Heliopolis hosted a truly unforgettable event: an evening dedicated to the art of tea, storytelling, and music. The room buzzed with curiosity as guests gathered around, ready to embark on a sensory journey led by none other than Joshua Linvers, founder of Sommerier Tea Selections and a former sommelier who discovered a profound connection between tea and wine.
Josh’s passion for tea was as captivating as his stories, each infused with depth and humor. Interested? Check his website, you may want to know things like how truly scary the Scary Fragrance tea is, or why Duck Shit Tea, is called Duck Shit tea!
The night was a reflection of everything Heliopolis stands for: connection, culture, and a celebration of life’s simple pleasures. For those who joined us, come back and let’s have more fun! For those who missed it, stay tuned—there’s always something extraordinary brewing here!

Josh’s approach to tea is nothing short of revolutionary. Inspired by the depth and nuance often reserved for wine, he treated us to a tea tasting experience that redefined what it means to savor this ancient drink. In fact, Josh’s tea was poured from carafes into small glasses—a style you’d usually expect with wine.
Between sips, Josh described the taste of tea with poetic, and sometimes hilarious, comparisons—“ Abstract Spring Fantasy”, or “Lettuce Ice Cream”!
Stay tuned for our next event—you won’t want to miss it.
Truly, Josh’s eccentricity was as endearing as it was inspiring, making the evening as layered and soulful as the teas he presented.
The Tea Cult
We hear Josh’s physical tea shop is opening soon!
But until then, you can buy his tea through his online shop, or come to Heliopolis, we carry some of his selection.
As always, our Tunes & Tales live music, supported by Haven, set a dynamic tone that both complemented and enhanced Josh’s storytelling. Steve Cho’s percussion performance provided the perfect interludes, and in true Heliopolis fashion, spontaneity added a spark: what began as planned music segments evolved into an extraordinary jam session, with six different artists joining in!
